Bottega Veneta Eyewear
Eyewear / Eyewear By Brands / Bottega VenetaBottega Veneta has always believed in the power of understatement. Established in 1966 by fashion designers Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro, the brand gained renown as a direct result of its focus on craftsmanship instead of branding, operating under the tagline, “When your own initials are enough.” The “Venetian atelier” (the literal translation of Bottega Veneta) developed an intricate leather-weaving technique called intrecciato, which remains a signature of the brand’s still-popular leather goods. After its initial meteoric rise to fame and notoriety, Bottega Veneta fell on hard times in the 1990s, and had to resort to more trend-driven design instead of its original commitment to letting the design speak for itself. But when German-born creative director Tomas Meier took the helm of the brand in 2001, he insisted that Bottega Veneta return to its roots of statement through understatement. And that same simple sophistication shines through in Bottega Veneta eyewear.
