In 1925, a couple opened a small handbag and fur workshop in Rome. Edoardo and Adele Fendi gained instant acclaim for their fashion-forward designs, and FENDI bags quickly became a favorite of the privileged people of Rome. Word of FENDI’s designs soon began to spread throughout Europe, and Edoardo and Adele enlisted the help of their five daughters to keep the brand going. It was in 1946 that the Fendi girls began to make the acquaintance of influential designer Karl Lagerfeld on the fashion circuit. Lagerfeld transformed FENDI into a big-name brand, innovative and exciting to watch.
FENDI got its start with its famous “baguette” handbags, but soon expanded its fashion repertoire to include couture, industrial ready-to-wear lines, shoes, and even eyewear. FENDI eyewear is licensed to American eyewear distributor Marchon Eyewear, but its designs are all FENDI. Like the brand itself, FENDI eyewear is innovative and exciting to see.
